I just made an honest to god effort to try and get through Stephanie Meyers' Twilight. Really. I did. I'll openly admit that I've never been *really* into reading fictional works (aside from some Murakami short stories), but you know what? When I get into a novel, I really get into it. I really got into The Lovely Bones and Brave New World. Really, I did. But Twilight reminds me of a time when I loved poorly written fanfic, and just hit puberty. I don't really grasp how this series seems to be so popular. But perhaps that's because I'm not really the intended audience. I don't like sappy romance novels. Or films, really. I've never been into ~*~*~vampires*~*~* (exception being dabbles in the Buffy fandom), and believe it or not, I've also hit puberty. I just can't get past the first chapter, though. If you'd like to give it a go, there's a PDF of it here. Alternatively, if you're up for something good, I've uploaded Brian Posehn's Nerd Rage here. There aren't any personal updates, really. Aside from the fact that I'm starting to narrow down what exactly I plan on doing in Europe, and I've gotten off my fat-assstarted to lose the weight I gained at SVA. Work is comme ça, and I just want to go back to school. Half of my textbooks come in, and I'm pretty disappointed about having to commute even though I know it's what I need to do in the long run. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to waste the rest of the night on XBox Live. This is also an appreciation post for Brigette Bardot's fashion sense.

livejournal? more like failjournal amirite? There was this entire rant I wanted to make about this feminist take on The Dark Knight I read, but I can't find the link to the article and I honestly don't know how to formulate my opinions on a coherent manner. I'll be back into essay mode sometime before I start classes, though, I swear. Speaking of, The Dark Knight was rather good. But shut up, Heath does not deserve an Oscar for it. By any means. If he was still alive, we'd all be talking about how it was a rather good follow up, quality wise, to his performance in Brokeback rather than how much he should be recognized formally for this role. Am I saying it was bad? No, not at all. Not in the least. I can't imagine what it's like to be a dedicated method actor, but obviously personal experience aided in the process here. And I'm going to disagree with the idea that he "died" because of this role in particular: who are we to judge the underlying personal lives of actors? By same logic, all the "crazy" roles Jack Nicholson has played? He'd be dead by now. Long dead and gone. I'm excited to go back to school, yet still debating what to do about work. I'm really holding out hope that I'll find some kind of internship. Today! Actually, I cooked quite a bit today. I wound up making homemade orange chicken again, and a Korean BBQ glazed chicken. Which should be great for lunch for the rest of the week. I still have some left-over potato salad and burgers from Thursday. perhaps that's dinner tonight! There's been little to no motivation to bake, and I'm actually going to the gym later on. How ironic. Current Mood: aggravated Current Music: Papa Loves Mambo - Perry Como

I am stressed and lonely and tired, but relieved that all this college-related bullshit should be settled soon. All I want is a good cup of tea, and a couple days of uninterrupted sleep. ..oh how interesting. Speaking in more positive terms, I clunked down the ten bucks on Metal Gear Solid Mobile, because I need something a bit more riveting than a copy of the New York Times and Zuma to keep me awake on the train home. For a mobile game, the graphics are surprisingly good. Chronologically, it falls somewhere between the original Metal Gear Solid and Sons of Liberty, but utilizes the camo system introduced in Snake Eater. The controls are relatively good, but I've found some awkward moments trying to get Snake to do what I want him to. Additionally, some VR missions were included to add on to playtime. I should note that I haven't completed the game yet, and therefore can't give any commentary on completion time. On the overall, it wasn't a bad buy, but the pricetag is only justifiable if you're a pretty hardcore fan of the series. Maybe give the subscription a run for a month if you're flat out curious. In the mean time, I'm just going to twiddle my thumbs until Guns of the Patriots arrives. mmm~. ♥
